this boy. . .

melts my heart!

young life

carl and i have had the chance to be volunteer leaders for young life this year. it has been SO much fun. we go every week and just get to hang out with high schoolers, make fools of ourselves and have a lot of fun. i thought i would share some pictures from snow camp, rock band night and the christmas sweater party.

feeling down

i have been feeling down. i seem to have really good days and then some really bad days. today was a bad one. i felt like all i ever did was get upset with zach and ellora and i hated it (they would come home tired and i would be tired from a full day with landon, which is never a good combination).

so today after talking with carl and God dealing with me in his own way, i realized i have forgotten how to play with them. they are so good at playing together i forgot how important it was for me to get down and actually play with them.

when they got home from school, i did it and it was GREAT! we had an awesome afternoon/evening of just being together and playing. and of course i did manage to grab some pictures too (ellora welcomed the opportunity to show off some poses). first we played cars, then pretty pretty princess/handsome handsome prince, then we had an orange dinner (oranges, mac&cheese, cheddar bunny crackers, not totally healthy but fun), then bathes and bed. it was just what we needed.

next up trying to get a picture of all 3 together!

funny kids

here are a couple kid stories i have been meaning to share.

zach started reading a book about the wright brothers with my dad. it was a book my dad read when he was little. my dad thought zach would enjoy because he wants to be a pilot when he grows up. i asked him if he was reading the book or if papa was helping him and he said, "well, papa holds it." the kid is a reading machine right now. he has been reading everything he can get his hands on.

ellora told me the other day she needed some reading glasses like grammy. and i told her she could see fine and didn't need glasses. then she looks at me and says, "but i can't read." she is a funny little girl. when i went to help in her class a few of the boys told me ellora was really funny. (anyone know where i can get some with clear lenses for her for christmas?)

landon is definitely one to let you know when he wants something or is unhappy about something. the other day he was trying to open the kid craft/coloring drawer and he couldn't get it open so he sat there pulling and grunting and then he started yelling, "mommy open!" a little while later while we were setting the table he started pulling one of the chairs from the kitchen table around saying, "sit, eat, sit, eat." he wasn't interested in sitting in his high chair. he wanted to be up at the table with everyone else. so we got him a booster seat at the table and he loved it. he is talking so much, it is so fun to see his personality coming out if full force!

just a cute picture from the other night!

silly little girl

carl and i were shooting a wedding a few weeks ago and had my best friend and her soon-to-be husband watching the kids for us. ellora apparently was flipping over onto the couch randomly so ashley asked her if it was ok for her to do that. ellora responded, "only when no one in my family is watching." she also had the same response when asked if it was ok to jump on the bed in the basement.
